Proficiency Tests

The Pony Club training structure encourages members to take tests throughout their Pony Club career; this enables them to learn progressively about horse and pony care and riding. 


The tests are normally taken at recommended ages and are designed with certain objectives in mind.  Each test is awarded a different color felt to be placed under their Pony Club badge.The test syllabus for each test, along with the recommended minimum age and the felt color is published on a test card.


Test - Felt Color - Recommend Minimum Age

E  -  Pale Yellow  -  Under 8 years

D  -  Yellow         - 8

D+ -  White         - 10

C  -  Green          - 11

C+ -  Pink            - 13

B  -   Red            - 15

B  -   Brown         - 15  (Horse & Pony Care only)

B  -   Beige          - 15  (Riding only)

AH -  Orange        - 18+

A  -   Blue            - 18+

B Test Care Training evening sessions starting Nov 10th with Katy Powell-Jones at Hendrerwydd Farm, Near Denbigh LL16 4LL Cost £6.  Please email area5@pcuk.org   or  ring  07802342561 

even if you cannot attend Nov 10th, but would be interested in future evenings. Aiming towards Care Test in April 2017.


Lunge Training will be put on if members declare an interest to area5@pcuk.org

For unmounted rallies please wear suitable footwear and clothing, bring your hat and gloves and a notebook and pen. The Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship is strongly recommended.

 

Please note that a jacket, shirt and pony club tie will be needed for the D/D+ and C tests.
