Well done to Orla and Keeva Stott who represented Area 5 (Minimums girls) at the National Winter Triathlon Championships at Milton Keynes this weekend (17 March), competition was very tough but both girls managed new PB’s in both the swim and run disciplines to finish 16th and 35th respectively, a great achievement.

More Success In Class 3!

Those who managed to get a pass out of school on Friday afternoon found a tricky and spooky course waiting for them in Class 3 of winter league. Northop has never been a favourite venue as the elephants, wavy planks and wall have caused problems in the past! With a gate being brought into the second round and more planks added the tight course this time caught many out. Nevertheless the CHS team of Amy Ford, Rosie Miller, Jessica Smith and Fleur Garside came third overall with Jessica being placed fifth individually. However the class was dominated by Martha Newall on her handsome grey, Ashton, who entered as individuals but won the class convincingly with a very fast clear second round. Her first win of many I'm sure on her new horse! Congratulations to all and we are all looking forward to the final WL on Saturday 15th.

Success in North Wales For Class 1 Winter League!

A trip to Northop on Friday 28th February, to a particularly spooky Winter League course caused many problems for the young competitors .  This didn't stop our star riders in class 1.  We had a great result with the non-league team consisting of only 3 members, Camilla Broster, Lucy Exley & Lily Diggle being the only team to finish on double clears.  The league team of Camilla Broster, Lucy Exley, Bea Hammond & Alice Ford finished 3rd. Alice finished 2nd individually and Camilla, 4th. Well done to all who took part and we look forward to the final competition at Somerford on the 15th March.

Novice Championship News:

Huge congratulations to the Novice Eventing Team of Freddie Ashworth, Rosie Miller, Sophie Barlow and Anna Holden for coming 2nd at the Novice Championships at Kelsall Hill on Sunday, and also to Freddie Ashworth for coming 1st in his section and Sophie for coming 10th in her section. There were 40 teams competing, with 40 in each section, so this was a great achievement for our riders.

Lucy Ford, Lucy Hassall, Lucy Lanni and Sophie Barlow made up the team for the biggest course any of them had jumped before. Lucy ford and Lucy Lanni started with a fantastic clear, and Lucy Hassall had 2 down with her young horse. Sophie was unlucky and unfortunately had to pull out of the competition, so the others went on to do the second round. None of the 45 teams were clear. Well done forqualifying and better luck next year.Congratulations to Jessica Smith who represented our branch in the individual show jumping.

Also competing in the Newcomers Showjumping there was a win for Alice Ford, with Toby McCain Mitchell coming a close 2nd, and Max Smith, (on  a new pony they only picked up the day before) Rose Diggle and Kate Samuel were also in the places, so an excellent 2nd day at the Championships for all the CHS riders. Well done to all of you!

Most of the members of the CHS Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing Teams having a team building BBQ and swim, very generously hosted by Team Ashworth. Well done all of you for qualifying, especially Sophie Barlow who has qualified on all three teams! Best of luck everyone, and enjoy your day.

Area Show JumpingThe Cheshire Hunt South pony club had a fantastic day at the Smallwood area jumping. Martha Newall and Tia Barlow represented our pony club in the intermediate jumping and Martha qualified for the championships at Cholmondeley.

In the novice team jumping there was two teams competing from Cheshire hunt south. Within the hounds team was Ellie Baker, Lucy Hassall, Lucy Ford and Sophie Barlow. In the foxes team was Amy Ford, Jessica Smith, Lucy Lanni and Felicity Calvery. The hounds team came 2nd and qualified, the foxes team came 6th. Jessica Smith got placed individually with a 2nd so also qualified, Lucy Ford got 5th and Sophie Barlow got 6th individually.

Max Smith won the inter branch newcomers. In the inter-branch improvers individual show jumping Alice Ford won, Camilla Broster came 3rd, Toby McCain came 4th and Levi toppling came 6th. Good luck to everyone!
